I’m going to be working on Go Laila Go, but I have been working (at work) in putting together a new website for us. It’s interesting how material, information and elements from this class have completely bled in to how I wanted our website to turn out.
This is literally links and materials from class with smatterings of uploads and attachments…for when tumblr didn’t work or for when blackboard didn’t cooperate. Hands down, this class has been a perfect beginning for the program - everyone should take practices with prof. W once, at least once.
Technical Glitches!
I believe that Susana has some kind of mind control over lab computers that result in her never seeing the trauma of what happens to other moral beings… however, for the moment I will forgive and forget because tonight the gods of 8th floor have finally decided to forgive my sins. I was allowed, just in the nick of time, to have a computer that didn’t shut down every time I opened FCP. I was also allowed time, space and freedom to make a sequence and save it. Oh Heaven!
I wasn’t however allowed to download and upload found footage. That would be too easy. Nor was I allowed to move my still images in to the time line. However, it is 2.00am and somehow, I have traveled, put in my time at work and put in my time in the lab and coordinated with Anissa.
Although I wasn’t able to upload the files (my lacie doesn’t talk to my PC), I will have them tomorrow in a format that somehow functions. A lot still needs to be done, but keeping in mind the terrible technical glitches - and the fact that I started to really enjoy FCP, I will keep going back to this and working with it. (Anissa, I hope you don’t hate it!) Thank you Prof. V, this was super cool, really!
Rough Cut
After some serious struggle in getting a reservation, I finally got my HD camera, DSLR and trekked to Anissa’s upstate where Upper Nyack is different from Nyack and downtown! (They are all five minutes away!)
Surrounded by trees, fabulous shops and healthy eats, Anissa and her home are so in sync with the neighborhood. And then there were children, five, six or seven of them, I can’t tell anymore.
It was a house of screaming, yelling, gorgeous and absolutely adorable ten year olds and I owe their parents a huge thank you for letting us borrow their time. Besides wanting to put toothpaste over each other, they had some insightful perspectives on just being a “kid”.
If final cut cooperates, I will be able to share these clips but the struggles with .mov versus .mts continues. In the meantime, I will at the very least try to post a clip from the wonderful shoot.
Playing with FCP with the wrong roughs :- ( Anissa and I are definitely re-shooting!
